Assault on Forester: Employees stage protest demanding action against accused DFO

Baramulla: Forest Employees in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district Saturday staged a protest against the manhandling of a Forester by Divisional Forest Officer in the Division.

The employees raised slogans against DFO and demanded stern action against him for assaulting Forester Bashir Ahmed.

“It is shameful that employees are being assaulted by their seniors. We will hit on roads if action against accused DFO Waseem Farooq is not initiated,” the protesters who had assembled in DFO Office Baramulla told Kashmir News Trust.

Senior officers rushed to spot and assured the protesting employees probe and subsequent action into the incident.

Meanwhile, Employees Joint Action Committee headed by Abdul Qayoom Wani issued a statement from Jammu urging upon the authorities at the helm of affairs to take cognizance of the incident and initiate action against the accused DFO.

The employees held a meeting at Gandhi Nagar Jammu that was presided by Wani.

While seeking intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Abdul Qayoom Wani urged upon Forest Minister and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to take action against accused DFO under law.
