DMC issues notice to Delhi Police over abduction of American national

New Delhi: A police team from Bikaner (Rajasthan) arrested the American national Mohammad Yasin Patel from Delhi’s Jamia Nagar police station without showing him any papers and took him to Bikaner.

Patel suffers from diabetes and has undergone brain surgery in 2013 for which he has to take certain medicines regularly. But, according to his daughter Tooba’s complaint, he was not allowed to take his medicines with him. Taking serious view of this violation of legal procedures, Delhi Minorities Commission has sent a notice to DCP South East of Delhi Police to reply why Patel was arrested, why he was taken away without warrants and why he was not allowed to carry his medicines with him. DMC

Chairman Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan has also written to the Superintendent of Police Bikaner to make available the necessary medicines to Patel and to provide him adequate medical attention.

DMC censures Delhi Police over trishul distribution

New Delhi:  In a reply to a notice regarding a recent public distribution of trishuls (tridents) in Sonia Vihar and Gokulpur Nahar Road area of east Delhi, DCP North East has informed the Commission that no law was broken and that the symbolic trishuls distributed were “mementos”.

Peeved by the reply, the Commission has written to the DCP North East saying that his reply is awkward, that distribution of trishuls is not symbolic and the trishuls are not mementos but are used to intimidate opponents.

The Commission has directed the DCP that such demonstration of power must not be allowed on public land like parks and roads and that the distribution of trishuls must not be tolerated in any way. The Commission further directed the DCP to convey these directions to the lowe cadres and send compliance report to the Commission.

The miscreants have also forcibly taken down the mosque’s loudspeaker. At Delhi Minorities Commission’s instance, police has been alert in the area recently during Friday prayers but still miscreants continued their mischiefs. Therefore, DMC has issued a notice to the DCP of the area to investigate the matter and take legal action against the miscreants.
