Srinagar: Facebook has blocked the news page of ‘Kashmir News Trust’ for 30 days.

The admin of the page had posted a screen shot of a Tweet of former Lawmaker Engineer Rasheed. Finding the screen shot as ‘objectionable’ the facebook blocked the news page Kashmir News Trust for a month on Monday morning.

“We don’t allow such content on facebook as it violates our policy,” read the message from the facebook.

Kashmir News Trust has over 5.65 lakh followers. “The facebook news page Kashmir News Trust has been blocked in the past as well for presenting true picture of the situation. I think it is 14th time when this page has been blocked for a month. We fail to understand why Facebook should have a problem with the views of a politician. Earlier, FB used to block the pages in Kashmir for posting content about militants and now it has started taking action for those posts as well that come from pro-India politicians. One should not get surprised, if any Kashmir based page will be blocked tomorrow for posting content of Omar Abdullah or Mehbooba Mufti.”

Pertinently, face book has zero tolerance when it comes to Kashmir. Besides news pages, it has even blocked the personal accounts of people mostly of Journalists. “My personal face book was blocked by face book last year and since then it has not been accepting my name and e-mail id. Now I only operate from Twitter,” Neyaz Elahi, a senior Journalist said adding that he had even submitted his identity card and other documents before facebook, but all in vain.

Kashmir News Trust is a registered news portal that is legally approved by court and verified by Jammu Kashmir Police.
