Five youth planning attacks on security establishment nabbed in Shopian: Police

Shopian: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday issued a statement regarding an arrest of five youth in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The police spokesman said that based on specific input Shopian police arrested five “associates” of militants’ identified as Aqib Nazir Rather son of Nazir Ahmed Rather resident of Awneera, Amir Majeed Wani son of Abdul Majeed Wani resident of Durpura,Sameer Ahmed Bhat son of Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat resident of Shirmal, Faisal Farooq Ahanger son of Farooq Ahmed Ahanger resident of Molu Chitragam, Rayees Ahmed Ganai son of Muhammad Ayuob Ganai resident of Molu Dangarpura.
He said during questioning it was revealed that Hizb militants along with the five arrested associates were planning to target police and security forces by planting an IED in the area.
On their disclosure, a sophisticated IED was recovered from their possession and major “terror” attempt which they had planned was foiled.
In this regard, a case FIR NO 39/2019 was registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigation is in progress.
