Dehradun: In an appalling case reported, a Kenyan woman was allegedly raped by a man she met at a yoga camp run by an internationally-acclaimed yoga guru in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh.

The news agency PTI reported that the 31-year-old accused was named Hemant Thapliyal. The police have arrested him on the basis of a complaint lodged by the survivor. Muni Ki Reti police station in-charge Ram Kishor Saklani told PTI, the complaint stated the accused met her at a yoga camp on March 7. He then offered to drop her by his scooty at the hotel where she was staying.

Reportedly, on their way back the man told the woman that he was a professional tour guide and could show her places of tourist interest. The woman accepted the offer and he took her isolated waterfall where he allegedly raped her twice.

Meanwhile, the woman somehow managed to escape from the place and immediately reported the matter to the police. However, the police have registered the case and the accused was arrested. The CCTV footages of yoga camp helped the police to trace the accused, police told PTI. Further investigation in the case is underway.
