Srinagar: The locals from Chattarhama Hazratbal area Srinagar city Wednesday alleged that district administration has started depriving their live stock from grazing on the state land. The locals said from centuries they have been using vast land for grazing animals but now on the behest of some vested interest elements who are hell-bent to grab this land, officials have started carrying out fencing work.
“Land comprising over 2000 kanals belong to State at Chaterhama while there are 600 kanals of land that belongs to Custodian. Out of this State land, 50 kanals were given to a local under Roshni Scheme,” they told KNT and alleged that concerned Patwari and other officials are hand in glove with land grabbers who are desperate to grab large chunk of this prized pasture land.
“We are farmers whose source of income come from live stock. If our live stock will be deprived from using this vast pasture land, then we will be left with no option but to sell our live stock,” Said Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar who headed the delegation.
