Srinagar: Following the new up-coming Lok Sabha election processes and statements by the different parties fighting the elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah in a recent statement has that the BJP believes revocation of Article 370 and 35 A of the Indian constitution can solve the problem in Kashmir.
Mr. Shah in an interview with The Economic Times relied to a question after asking that the abrogation of Article 370 in the state, he said that they have tried for a solution in the state through peace.
“When that didn’t happen, we started taking controlled action against extremist and separatist groups. NIA did many raids, cut their source of funding. We banned JKLF, Jamaat-e-Islami, removed their security and ran them aground. As for 370 and 35A, this was on BJP’s agenda since the day of its inception is there even today and will always remain until they are removed, ” said Mr. Shah.
He further added that bonding a collation government with the Peoples Democratic Party in the state was in the national interest. However, he claims the party soon realised that the interests of the people of Kashmir and the country were being compromised, they ended the alliance.
Mr. Shah added that in 2014, there was a fractured mandate. They accepted that and formed a collation government in the national interest. “But when we found that the interests of the Kashmiri people and the country were being compromised, we broke the alliance.
He has replied on a question that was BJP politicizing Pulwama and Balakot “attack” by saying that it is people who will have to decide what kind of government they want, “one which response to “terror attacks” by crushing the “terrorists” or one which talks to them.
He also said that the government run by PM Modi has attacked Pakistan and destroyed terrorist camps, “whether it was after Uri or Pulwama. Until now, there were only two countries, which took revenge on martyrdom of their soldiers – US and Israel. Because of Modiji, India is now the third country to do so.”
