Soldier and a civilian killed in South Kashmir shootout

Pulwama: The Kakapora attack has claimed the life of a soldier and a civilian.
Defence spokesperson while confirming the death of a soldier termed the militant as provocative and cowardice.
As reported earlier, a Cordon and Search Operation was launched in Dogam and adjacent villages of Kakapora Tehsil headquarters of South Kashmir's Pulwama district after militants attacked Kakapora based Army Camp this evening.
Reports said that group of militants opened fire on the camp creating panic in the area. The soldiers as per a police official also retaliated forcing militants to flee from the spot.
The exchange of fire continued for more than 10 minutes. SP Pulwama said a soldier and a civilian suffered injuries in the attack. Both of them later succumbed to their injuries.
Reports said that shortly after the attack, reinforcement was called and couple of villages including Dogam were brought under siege.
The civilian who was identified as Bilal Ahmed Ganaie of Narwa Kakapora injured in the shoot out was shifted to PHC Kakapora where he succumbed to his injuries. According to locals, the dead body of Bilal Ahmed who is a Sumo Driver was found during search operation. It was lying on the ground.
Srinagar based Defence spokesperson siad that Cordon and Search Operation is underway.
