Srinagar: A family from Tengapora Batamaloo Tuesday accused a police officer of using dilly dally tactics to save the ‘culprits’ allegedly involved in the ‘murder’ of a young boy Obaid Altaf Dar.
The family members mostly comprising females assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and narrated what they termed as the murder incident.
“My son Obaid went for outing with his two friends Amir Ahmed of Beerwah and Adnan Ashraf Ganaie of Tengpora some two months ago during evening hours. My son didn’t turn up and accordingly we approached police station Parimpora. Two days after we discovered the body of Obaid while police on our request arrested his two friends. We were shocked when Parimpora police station let off both the accused without waiting for the post mortem report,” Shameema Altaf , the wailing mother of the slain youth told reporters.
She alleged that SHO Parimpora police station is using dilly dally tactics and are avoiding them. “The said officer doesn’t listen to us. If it is a murder case, how come he released the accused without any investigation. If the accused claim that Obaid was killed in a road accident, then how his dead body was discovered away from the road. Who shifted his dead body from the road. There are lot of questions which the police is unable to answer,” said the wailing relatives of slain youth to news agency CNS.
The protesting family members were carrying placards seeking justice and intervention of higher authorities.
“We want justice. How can killers roam free after killing my lone son,” said the mother.
Station House Officer Parimpora Javaid Ahmed told CNS that it was a case of accident. “The investigation is in final stage. FSL opinion is awaiting. Initial investigation reveals that the released youth are innocent,” he said.
