Taxi drivers staged a protest in Sonamarg accusing district administration Ganderbal of a lackadaisical approach. They appealed to authorities to restore the highway at the earliest.<\/p>\n<p>Pertinently, the Srinagar-Kargil highway was closed on Sunday after incessant rains and snow at Zojila.<\/p>\n<p>An official said that several snow avalanches have hit Zojila prompting the administration to close the Pass for the traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Scores of vehicles bound for Kargil and Leh are stationed at Sonamarg for the past four days.<\/p>\n<p>A driver told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that stranded passengers are desperate to reach their destinations. \u201cThere are vehicles laden with perishable goods as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Worth mentioning here is that the Weather Department has predicted rains on Thursday and Friday across Jammu and Kashmir.
