Former Sadr-i-Riyasat of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Karan Singh who is camping in Kashmir capital Srinagar Saturday appealed to the State Government to preserve world famous Dal Lake and dismantle all the encroachments found in and around this picturesque lake.
During an interaction with the representatives of various social organizations in Srinagar, Dr Karan Singh expressed deep concern about the present condition of Dal Lake. He said that State Government should utilize all the funds provided by the Central Government in an appropriate way.
He said that Dal Lake is the backbone to Tourism Industry in Kashmir and if appropriate steps are not taken for its preservation, then a day will come soon when it will vanish from the tourism map of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Representatives of various social organizations appealed Dr. Singh to find ways and means to save this world-famous Lake. Dr Singh said that encroachments that are being found in and around Dal must be dismantled without any delay. He appealed to the State Government to take major steps in this regard. [KNT]
