Modi to Address First Srinagar Rally on Dec 8; BJP Plans Massive Show of Strength, One Lakh Attendees Expected at Cricket Stadium Event

Srinagar, Dec 1, KNT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a major public rally at the Cricket Stadium in Sonawar, Srinagar, on December 8. This will be Modi’s first public rally in Srinagar since becoming the Prime Minister of India.
BJP’s National General Secretary, Tarun Chugh, told reporters that the party expects a turnout of nearly one lakh people at what he described as a “historic rally.” According to Chugh, Modi will outline the BJP’s vision and policies for Jammu and Kashmir during his address. “We have made extensive arrangements to ensure the presence of a large number of party supporters,” he said.
A senior BJP leader, speaking anonymously to KNT, revealed that the party is considering hiring trains, buses, cars, jeeps, and even motorcycles to transport attendees, particularly from Jammu. “We’re finalizing the plan to ensure this rally sees a record-breaking crowd,” the leader said.
BJP Kashmir media in-charge, Altaf Thakur, said the party is planning a grand welcome for the Prime Minister. Saffron-colored flags, banners, and posters will be installed throughout the area surrounding the Cricket Stadium. A large stage is also being constructed, featuring portraits of Narendra Modi and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Several massive hoardings of Modi have already been placed at prominent locations across Srinagar.

In light of the upcoming rally, security forces are preparing extensive security measures. A senior police official said a three-tier security arrangement will be implemented. “We will carry out area sanitization well in advance and ensure strict security checks to guarantee a peaceful rally,” the officer told KNT.
Additionally, Tarun Chugh informed the press that senior BJP leader and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will address a gathering of intellectuals, civil society members, and academicians at the SKICC on December 3. “This intellectuals’ meet, titled ‘Vision Kashmir,’ aims to present the party’s viewpoint before Kashmir’s educated and thoughtful voices. Invitations have already been sent out,” Chugh added. [KNT]
