Achan Dumping Site – nuisance for patients, attendants at SKIMS

Department of Housekeeping and Sanitation at SKIMS Soura is mulling writing to Srinagar Municipal Corporation asking it to redress the genuine matter with regard to the foul smell emanating from the “Achan Dumping Site”, which continues to be a great source of inconvenience to patients and attendants at the hospital.

“The patients admitted in SKIMS are facing tremendous problems, especially during the night due to the foul smell of “Achan Dumping Site”, this is what the information seeker MM Shuja, who is a social activist wanted to know the official stand from the hospital authorities through an application filed by him under Right to Information Act.

The hospital as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust has confirmed that it is a genuine problem and needs to be addressed.

“It is based on facts, and as such, it is to inform that the whole vicinity adjacent to the Dumping site of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (Achan) including SKIMS Hospital, its residential quarters, and other areas are facing tremendous problems, especially during the hot season and therefore the matter may please be taken up with the higher authorities of Srinagar Municipal Corporation Srinagar for redressal of this genuine grievance.
