An avalanche hit near Sarbal area close to Nilgrath where Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Limited (MEIL), is executing the work on Zojila Tunnel.
The snow avalanche hit the area at 10 AM on Thursday morning.

Project Manager, Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Limited, Harpal Singh told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a rescue operation is underway to find out if any labourer has been trapped under the snow or not.

Singh confirmed that a worker in critical condition has been taken out who was trapped under the snow. “We have shifted the labourer to PHC Sonmarg for treatment,” he said adding that there may be casualties but it will be premature to say anything at this point of time.
UPDATED: Two bodies of Kishtwar workers were retrieved till the filing of this report.[KNT]
