Narcotics found in drug smuggler’s house, arrested

Police have arrested a drug peddler in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Police said that 580 grams of narcotics were recovered from the possession of the drug smuggler who hails from Hajitra Taad area of Karnah.

A police spokesperson identified the alleged drug smuggler as Fareed Sheikh son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh who has been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

The police spokesperson said that during the preceding night, acting upon specific information regarding the presence of narcotics in the possession of the accused, a search was conducted in his house in the presence of Executive Magistrate 1st class Tangdhar.

During the search, one packet containing narcotics substance weighing about 580 grams was recovered from the house. The accused was subsequently arrested and lodged at Police Station Karnah. [KNT]
