Roads and Building Department says that link roads fall under the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and it is the Corporation that has to take care of interior city roads.

Locals said that SMC has spent lakhs over the roads in some areas in Srinagar outskirts but did nothing for the areas which are very close to the city.

“Last time it was during PDP led government when the then R&B Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari macadamized the roads of Mehjoor Nagar and since then authorities have shown no interest in mitigating the sufferings of the people,” Ghulam Qadir, a local told news agency Kashmir News Trust.
He said it is virtually impossible to commute from the Mehjoor Nagar bridge up to the Jawahar Nagar. “Mehjoor Nagar Bund is dotted with potholes making travel a cumbersome journey.”
The locals appealed to authorities to start the macadamization work on the road without any further delay.
