Pistol recovered from a non-local in Srinagar – Arrested

A non-local was arrested by police after a pistol was recovered from his possession in the heart of Srinagar city.

The accused has been identified as Lokesh Kumar of the Alipurdauar area of India’s state of West Bengal. He was living on rent at a house in the Elahibagh area of Srinagar outskirts.

The arrest was made at a checkpoint at Regal Chowk Srinagar by a police party from Kothi Bagh police station.

Police said that the accused had stolen the pistol from the house of a registered license holder.

This is probably the first such incident when a non-local carrying arms has been apprehended in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

“An FIR vide number 31/2023 has been registered in this regard,” police said. [KNT]
