A schoolgirl had a narrow escape while enjoying a ride on the ‘Ferris Wheel’ at a circus in picturesque Mansbal Park here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A purported video that is viral shows a little girl hanging in the air holding the grip of an iron rod during the rotation of the ‘Ferris Wheel’.
Luckily, the girl escaped unhurt. Locals alleged that some ‘non-professional workers have been managing the affairs of the amusement facility at Mansbal Park that Wullar Manasbal Development Authority has outsourced to a private individual who hails from Gulshan Nagar Nowgam area of Srinagar outskirts.
Many witnesses told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the workers tried to speed up the swing and in the process, the girl lost her balance and hung in the air. They alleged that some equipment is faulty as a result little children are always at risk.
The allotment copy duly signed by the Executive Engineer Wullar Mansbal Development Authority clearly mentions that the amusement equipment must be of good quality and in good condition for the safety and security of the general public, any laxity in this regard shall not be tolerated. The agency shall take all necessary measures for the safety and security of the people while using the amusement equipment.
Secretary to Tourism Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah in response to the incident said that it is totally unacceptable. “Having this looked into immediately by the district administration and all relevant tourism authorities, necessary action for delinquency will be initiated immediately,” he wrote on ‘X’ platform.
