A trooper allegedly shot himself dead while guarding a check post in Sail area that falls under the jurisdiction of police station Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The incident occurred in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the trooper identified as Ajay Kumar of F/112 Splinter Company was found dead on the spot of his duty. They said there were bullet marks on his body and prima facie it seems a case of suicide.
