Mehjoor Nagar pedestrian bridge misses deadline, locals aghast

The pedestrian bridge connecting Mehjoor Nagar and Jawahar Nagar at Mahjoor Nagar Bund has missed its deadline, much to the displeasure of a large chunk of the population.

“The bridge was scheduled to be completed by August this year, however, looking at the slow pace of the work, it is believed that its completion may take one more year,” the locals told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

The foundation stone of this bridge was laid by the then Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu along with Commissioner SMC  Athar Amir Khan in August 2022. It is being constructed at an approved cost of Rs 4.95 crores with a total road length of 106 meters approximately.
