2010 sectarian violence: Aga Syed Hasan appears before court

President Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi Wednesday appeared before a local court in Sumbal in connection with a case registered against him and others in 2010.

Earlier, the court of  JMIC Sumbal Sonwari had issued a warrant (111/5-B/1PSB/23) against Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al Safavi and accordingly, he appeared before the Court on Wednesday.

Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian spokesperson said that the court while understanding the sensitivity of the situation accepted the application moved by the legal Counsel and exempted him from future hearings.

As per Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian the case is related to sectarian violence that broke out in 2010 in parts of north Kashmir and to douse the flames and spread the message of brotherhood Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al Safavii along with late Moulana Showket Shah visited the affected areas. Police had registered an FIR vide number 278/2010 at Sumbal Police Station in this regard.

Meanwhile, Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama Jammu and Kashmir has sought withdrawal of the case against Agha Syed Hassan saying that he has always promoted communal harmony. [KNT]
