Omar Abdullah Reminds PM Modi of Statehood Promise During Z-Morh Tunnel Inauguration in Sonamarg
At the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took the opportunity to acknowledge the peaceful conduct of elections in the region. “Elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir, and the most significant part was that there were no complaints of irregularities or misuse of power. This is credit to you, Prime Minister Modi, your colleagues, and the Election Commission of India,” Abdullah said.
While thanking Prime Minister Modi for visiting the region despite the cold weather, Abdullah subtly reminded him of a promise made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “My heart tells me that very soon, you will fulfill your promise of restoring statehood,” he added, urging the Prime Minister to act on the long-standing demand for statehood.
Abdullah also expressed a sentiment of hope for a continued and strong relationship between Jammu and Kashmir and the central government, stating, “You have a very old relationship with Jammu and Kashmir, and we hope that you will visit us again, stay among us, and share in our happiness.”
