Sopore Forests: Search operation enters 2nd day

Baramulla, Jan 20, KNT: The anti-militant operation in the forests of Sopore, located in North Kashmir, extended into its second day on Monday as joint forces continued their cordon-and-search efforts, officials said.

The forces maintained a firm perimeter around the Zaloora Gujjarpati area and intensified their search for suspected militants on Monday morning.

The operation began on Sunday after security personnel discovered a militant hideout and subsequent exchange of fire during the process of uncovering it.

“No casualties have been reported thus far. A massive search operation is underway in the forest area, however, no contact with the militants has been established yet,” officials said. [KNT]
