Under various schemes like C&T, NABARD, and the UT Sector, our cumulative target for this season is approximately 328 kilometres,” he stated.

Naqeeb revealed that Rs 105 crore has been earmarked for these works, asserting that all operations will conclude by August 15, provided weather conditions remain favourable.

To ensure adherence to quality standards, the PWD has put in place a three-tier quality control mechanism. The Chief Engineer explained, “Our first checkpoint begins at the divisional level under the Executive Engineer, then moves to the Superintending Engineer level, and finally is overseen by the State Quality Control unit.”

He further informed that the engineering wing is maintaining a strict vigil at macadam plants to ensure only the highest quality materials are used.

After the roads are macadamised, the Department of Inspection and Quality Control (DIQC) will conduct standardised testing to validate the quality of the work.

The clarification from PWD aims to dispel public apprehension and reinforce the department’s commitment to timely and quality road infrastructure in Kashmir.
