AIMSA Thanks Rajasthan CM for Prompt Response Over J&K Student Suicide

Udaipur, July 28, KNT: The All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) has extended its heartfelt gratitude to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for his swift and compassionate response following the tragic suicide of Shweta Singh, a dental student from Jammu & Kashmir studying at Pacific Dental College, Udaipur.
In a formal letter addressed to the Chief Minister, AIMSA acknowledged his timely attention to the matter, calling it a source of reassurance to the medical student community across the nation. The association termed the incident “heartbreaking” and used the occasion to highlight the urgent need for institutional reforms in academic environments.
“This tragedy has underscored the critical importance of addressing academic harassment, mental health concerns, and a lack of institutional accountability in our educational institutions,” the letter stated.

The association has urged the Rajasthan government to implement strict preventive rules and grievance redressal mechanisms across all medical and dental colleges in the state. It emphasized the necessity of such steps to prevent students from suffering in silence.
AIMSA leaders, including National Convenor Dr. Apurva Dalvi and Vice President Dr. Muhammad Momin Khan, stressed that Shweta Singh’s unfortunate death should serve as a turning point. “We believe this incident must catalyze stronger, more supportive academic environments to ensure no student is left vulnerable,” they said.
