He urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene in the matter and ensure that swift action is taken. Dr. Khan also called upon Rajouri MLA Iftkar Ahmed and Principal of GMC Rajouri, Dr. Amarjeet Singh Bhatia, to uphold accountability and provide the victim with both medical and legal support.

The AIMSA leader warned that such attacks are becoming disturbingly frequent across Jammu and Kashmir. “It is time the government implements visible and effective protections for doctors and hospital staff. If these incidents continue to go unchecked, it will cripple the morale of our healthcare system,” he warned.

Calling for immediate institutional reforms, Dr. Khan issued a public appeal to the Health Department and police authorities to enforce strict safety protocols across all government hospitals, ensure the swift arrest and prosecution of the attackers and introduce a zero-tolerance policy for any violence against medical staff

He reiterated that doctors cannot continue to work under constant threat. “Justice must not be delayed, and a strong message must be sent — that our hospitals are safe zones, and no assault will go unpunished.”

The incident has sparked outrage within the wider medical and student communities, with growing calls for legislative protection for doctors on duty and urgent improvements in hospital security infrastructure. [KNT]
