Two Killed, 15 Injured in Road Accident in Ghumri Drass

 

Kargil, July 16, KNT: Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident in Ghumri, Drass area of Kargil district.

Official sources said that a Tempo Traveller en route from Ladakh to Srinagar met with an accident at Ghumri Drass when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge into a deep gorge. As a result, all 17 passengers onboard sustained injuries.

Two of them died on the spot, while eight are reported to be in critical condition. Six others suffered minor injuries and were shifted to Drass Hospital.

SHO Drass, Manzoor Hussain Mir, told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the accident occurred around 5:30 in the morning. He confirmed that two people died on the spot, and 15 others were taken to the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Manik Tedu, son of Shiv Lal Tedu, a resident of Lodhna Dumka and Bhawan Joshi son of Pamdev Joshi of Uttrakhand. [KNT]
