Women CRPF Personnel Bring Human Touch to Yatra Security Along Baltal Route

Srinagar, Jul 15, KNT: As the annual Amarnath Yatra 2025 progresses through the treacherous and spiritually significant Baltal route, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has emerged as a pillar of support and reassurance for pilgrims, especially through its innovative and compassionate outreach initiatives.

In a bid to make the pilgrimage safer and more inclusive, the CRPF, under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Srinagar, has launched a novel concept titled “May I Help You.” As part of this initiative, special teams of women personnel clad in distinct orange vests marked with the initiative’s name have been deployed at key locations—most notably at the Manigam base camp and the Domail entry point at Baltal.

These women-centric teams have been tasked not just with maintaining security but also providing holistic assistance to pilgrims, particularly women. Their responsibilities include guiding yatris through pre-yatra formalities, offering first aid, distributing drinking water during long waiting hours, and in certain emergencies, even transporting sick female pilgrims in ambulances to the nearest base hospital.

The presence of these teams has instilled a sense of safety and comfort among women pilgrims, many of whom have been regularly seeking assistance and expressing gratitude for the humane and respectful environment these teams have cultivated.

“This initiative ensures maximum protection with minimum inconvenience,” said a CRPF official on the ground. “Women yatris have responded positively and approach our teams freely for all kinds of help, be it related to health, logistics, or general guidance.”

Alongside the women-centric initiative, the CRPF’s Mountain Rescue Teams (MRT)—comprising specially trained personnel—have been tirelessly engaged in rescue and relief operations across the rugged and unpredictable terrain. Their presence has been crucial in swiftly responding to medical emergencies, sudden weather changes, and other risks faced by yatris undertaking the high-altitude trek.

The dual effort—a blend of empathetic support and rigorous professionalism—has become a cornerstone of the yatra’s successful and smooth conduct this year. While the women’s teams provide a human-centric approach, the MRT ensures technical and tactical readiness for any unforeseen challenges.

Both male and female CRPF units have received appreciation from yatris and officials alike for creating an environment of safety, care, and trust—transforming the arduous pilgrimage into a more manageable and secure experience.
