Cloudburst Triggers Flash Flood in Ramban, 3 Dead, 5 Missing

Ramban, August 30, KNT: A cloudburst in the upper reaches of Rajgarh area in Ramban district on Saturday triggered a flash flood, leaving at least three people dead and five others missing.

According to officials, the sudden cloudburst occurred in the higher reaches of Rajgarh, washing away houses and livestock in the gushing waters. The flash flood swept through several hamlets, catching residents off guard.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, along with police, SDRF and other rescue teams, rushed to the spot and launched a massive search and rescue operation. “Three bodies have been recovered so far, while efforts are on to trace five missing persons,” an official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

The operation is being carried out under difficult conditions due to the rugged terrain and continuous flow of water. Locals said several structures and agricultural land were damaged, adding to the misery of the affected families.
