

Kupwara, Aug 25, KNT: In yet another incident of violence against healthcare professionals, a doctor and two employees at Community Health Centre (CHC) Kralgund area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district were allegedly attacked by a group of miscreants inside the hospital premises. Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the assault.
Officials said the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when a patient accompanied by his family members arrived at the hospital with an injury on his hand. A heated argument reportedly broke out, which soon turned into an assault on the attending doctor and two hospital employees.
Following a written complaint from the victims, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of assault, use of obscene language, and outraging the modesty of employees.

Police identified the arrested persons as Javid Khan of Moshinar and Shahid Ahmad Khan of Payarpora, Kupwara. Officials said one of the accused has a criminal history with previous cases registered at different police stations.
Confirming the arrests, a police officer said legal proceedings are underway. “Any act of violence against healthcare professionals or damage to hospital property is a serious offence. This kind of violence will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said, adding that similar incidents in the future would invite strict legal action. [KNT]
