Missing fisherman’s body recovered from Jhelum in Sopore

Sopore, Aug 20, KNT: The body of a fisherman who had gone missing four days ago was recovered from river Jhelum near Tulbal Bypass Bridge in Sopore on Wednesday.

Officials said that the deceased, identified as Ali Mohammad Dar, had ventured out for fishing on Saturday evening but failed to return home, triggering a large-scale search.

Rescue teams comprising State Disaster Response Force personnel, police, and local fishermen had been combing the river stretch for the past four days before finally retrieving the body.

The body has been shifted to Sub District Hospital Sopore for medico-legal formalities.
Authorities have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated further investigation. [KNT]
