Police seize two vehicles in Awantipora illegal mining crackdown

 

Awantipora, Aug 22, KNT: Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining, Police in Awantipora have seized two vehicles involved in unlawful excavation and transportation of minerals in the Khrew area.

Officials said a police team from Police Station Khrew, led by SHO Inspector Naieem Rashid, intercepted and seized two tippers bearing registration numbers JK13B-4411 and JK01AT-7704. The vehicles were allegedly being used for illegal mineral extraction and transport.

Police said that an FIR No. 62/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khrew and further investigation is underway.

Authorities in Awantipora Police District have intensified efforts to curb the menace of illegal mining, which not only causes environmental damage but also results in significant revenue loss to the government.
