Budgam man dies after falling from train in Pulwama, wife critical after jumping to save him

 

Pulwama, Sep 9, KNT: A couple from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district met with a mishap while travelling on a train from Baramulla to Sangaldhan.

Railway sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the husband, identified as Reyaz Ahmed Mohand, son of Abdul Ahad Mohand, a resident of Kawoosa Budgam, reportedly fell from the moving train (75652) near Panzgam area of Pulwama. In a desperate attempt to save him, his wife jumped off the train as well.

While Reyaz Ahmed died on the spot, his wife sustained grievous injuries. She has been shifted to the hospital for specialized treatment, where her condition is stated to be critical.

Officials said preliminary reports suggest Reyaz Ahmed lost balance and fell, after which his wife leapt from the train. Police and railway authorities have taken cognizance of the incident. [KNT]
