Srinagar, Sep 9, KNT: With the Srinagar-Jammu Highway remaining closed for several days, aspirants from Kashmir are voicing serious concerns over reaching their designated centres in Jammu for the upcoming Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET-9).
The examination, scheduled by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, is to be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The test is being conducted for the recruitment of Nursing Officer posts across AIIMS and other institutes.
A large number of candidates from the valley have been allotted examination centres in Jammu. However, the continued blockade of the vital highway link has left them anxious, as surface connectivity remains uncertain. Students fear that if the highway is not restored in time, many of them will be unable to appear for the crucial exam.
Candidates have appealed to the authorities to either shift their exam centres from Jammu to Kashmir or to arrange additional train services connecting the valley with Jammu to ensure their timely arrival. They argue that the situation, caused by circumstances beyond their control, should not put their academic and professional future at risk.
“The government must intervene urgently. Either centres should be relocated within Kashmir or special trains should be run to facilitate our travel. Otherwise, hundreds of careers will be jeopardised,” one group of aspirants told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.
The NORCET-9 preliminary exam is scheduled for September 14, while the mains are set for September 27. With only a few days left, candidates are waiting anxiously for a response from the administration. [KNT]
