Srinagar, Sep 8, KNT: The International Convention of Event Industry (ICEI) on Monday announced that it will host the 5th edition of its flagship event “Hindusthan 2025” in Srinagar for the first time, aiming to project Kashmir as a premier destination for luxury weddings and large-scale events.
Addressing a press conference at Hotel Radisson Srinagar, ICEI President Rituraj Khanna described Hindusthan not merely as a conclave but as an emotion. He said Kashmir, with its unmatched natural beauty, deserves to be developed as a “wedding city” that could host mega wedding events.
Gunjan Singla, Chairman of ICEI, informed that the wedding expo was initially planned in Macau but following the Pahalgam incident, the organizers decided to bring the event to Kashmir. “The Chief Minister will inaugurate the expo ‘Wedding Kashmir’ tomorrow. A mock wedding event will also be staged. Our objective is to boost Kashmir’s economy and promote it as a global wedding hub,” Singla said.

Speakers at the press meet as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust emphasized that the wedding industry in India is valued at nearly 90 thousand crore rupees. Even a small percentage of this sector entering Kashmir, they said, would provide a major boost to the local economy.
Prominent hotelier Mushtaq Chaya underlined that Kashmir’s climate and natural landscape are uniquely suited for the wedding industry. He expressed confidence that initiatives like Hindusthan would open fresh opportunities for tourism, culture and business in the Valley.
Themed “Wed in Kashmir,” the two-day convention will be held on September 9 and 10 at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The event will bring together over 200 wedding planners, event professionals and cultural voices from across India to reimagine Kashmir as a hub for destination weddings and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism.
Organizers said the conclave would not only showcase Kashmir’s potential for destination weddings but also generate sustainable livelihoods by reviving event tourism and integrating local culture into the global wedding industry. [KNT]
