One Rescued, Another Missing After Drowning Incident in Bandipora

Bandipora, Sept 6, KNT: A search and rescue operation was launched by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in Nicheer Baniyari area of Bandipora district on Saturday after two persons drowned while extracting sand from a river.

Officials said the victims have been identified as Amir Ahmad Dar, son of Gulzar Ahmad Dar, resident of Nicher Hajin Bandipora, and Muhammad Yaqoob. The duo slipped into the water while digging sand.

Local sources informed that Muhammad Yaqoob was rescued shortly after the incident. However, 18-year-old Amir Ahmad was swept away by the strong currents and remains missing.

Teams of SDRF along with locals were continuing search operations to trace the missing youth. [KNT]
