Tarigami Terms Hazratbal Emblem Row as Provocative Move

Srinagar, Sept 6, KNT: Senior CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has strongly criticized the installation of the government emblem at the revered Hazratbal shrine, calling it an unnecessary and provocative action that has deeply hurt the sentiments of the people.
Tarigami said those who are at the helm of affairs are deliberately creating an environment of provocation. “Otherwise, there was no need to put the emblem at the shrine. Those in authority should understand that there is a law which punishes those who hurt the religious sentiments of the people,” he remarked.
The veteran leader alleged that the controversy was politically motivated. “These people know they have been rejected by the masses and are indulging in a dirty game. I condemn the registration of FIR against the people but demand that an FIR should instead be registered against those who hurt the sentiments of the people,” Tarigami said.
He further added that the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have faith in the Hazratbal shrine are well aware of who is behind the move. [KNT]
