Aga Mehmood Questions National Conference’s Strategy in Budgam Amid Omar Abdullah’s Absence from Polls
Budgam, Oct 26, KNT: National Conference candidate for Budgam assembly by-election Aga Syed Mehmood has raised concerns over what he termed as the “uncertain political direction” of the National Conference in Budgam district, citing the absence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from the upcoming Assembly elections as a key factor influencing the local political landscape.
Addressing reporters in Budgam, Aga Mehmood highlighted that during the previous Assembly elections, Omar Abdullah had played a pivotal role in leading the party’s campaign and enjoyed active support from the district leadership. He said that the NC’s political strength in Budgam had long revolved around Omar’s personal engagement and visibility, which had helped the party maintain its voter base.
“In the past, Omar Abdullah’s presence in Budgam energized the party cadre and gave confidence to local supporters. His absence from the current electoral contest has created a leadership vacuum,” Aga Mehmood said, adding that the party now faces the challenge of defining a clear direction in the constituency.
He said the people of Budgam are closely observing the evolving situation and expect strong and decisive leadership from the National Conference. “The public wants to know who will represent them, who will lead from the front, and what the party’s roadmap is for addressing the district’s developmental needs,” he remarked.
