Congress Leaves Nagrota Assembly Seat for NC in Spirit of Alliance Unity

Jammu, Oct 20, KNT: The Indian National Congress (INC) has decided to leave the Nagrota Assembly seat to its alliance partner, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC), as part of a broader strategy to consolidate opposition unity and defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming elections.

According to the party’s statement, the decision was taken after detailed deliberations on the report submitted by the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC). The leadership examined multiple factors, including past electoral trends and coalition principles, before arriving at the consensus.

The Congress said that in the 2024 Assembly elections, both Congress and NC had contested the Nagrota seat on friendly terms. In those polls, the National Conference candidate had secured the second position, demonstrating significant local strength and voter support in the constituency.
