Srinagar, Oct 14, KNT: The Court of Sub Judge Srinagar has directed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Rajbagh to immediately enforce an interim order restraining the publication and circulation of alleged defamatory content on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, in a case involving political leader GM Shaheen and Dr. Sandeep Mawa.
According to court documents accessed by the news agency Kashmir News Trust, the matter, titled Ghulam Mohammad Shah versus Dr. Sandeep Mawa, pertains to an interim injunction issued on October 8, 2025. The order temporarily restrained the defendant, his agents, and anyone acting on his behalf from republishing, retransmitting, or sharing alleged defamatory statements, including fabricated audio recordings, through Facebook or any other digital or print medium.
Despite the restraint, the applicant alleged that the respondent continued to post, share, and circulate the same material in open defiance of the court’s directive. The alleged defiance prompted the applicant to move a fresh application on October 10, 2025, seeking enforcement of the interim order through the police.
In his application filed through counsel Advocate Tawheed Mir & Associates, the applicant urged the court to direct the SHO Rajbagh to ensure immediate implementation of the October 8 order “in its letter and spirit” and to remove all defamatory content from the Facebook page Dr. Sandeep Mawa and any mirrored platforms.

The plea further stated that “despite the interim order being in force, the non-applicant has, in total disregard of the court’s directions, continued publishing and transmitting defamatory statements on Facebook and other social media platforms,” thereby amounting to willful disobedience and contempt of court.
The court, presided over by Sub Judge Junaid Imtiyaz, heard the matter and observed that “the order of the court should be respected by the parties.” In its written directive, the court instructed the SHO of Police Station Rajbagh to “inform the non-applicant as regards the order dated 08.10.2025 and implement the same in its letter and spirit.” The SHO was also ordered to file a compliance report before the next hearing, scheduled for October 23, 2025.
The order emphasized that continued violation of court directions through digital platforms would not be tolerated, warning that failure to comply could invite contempt proceedings. The court observed that “repeated attempts by the respondent to disseminate defamatory content defeat the very purpose of the interim protection granted by this Court.” [KNT]
