Muntazir Mohiuddin Says Apni Party Has Best Manifesto, But Budgam Needs Independent Representation

Budgam, Oct 20, KNT: Former Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party leader Muntazir Mohiuddin, who recently resigned from the party to contest the upcoming by-elections from Budgam Assembly constituency as an independent candidate, on Monday said that his decision was guided by local circumstances rather than any differences with his former party.
Speaking to media persons after filing nomination papers, Muntazir Mohiuddin described the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party as a “credible political platform” with a manifesto that, according to him, best represents the aspirations of the people of the Union Territory.
“I have no complaints against the Apni Party. I don’t lie, and it is a fact that Apni Party truly represents the people of Jammu and Kashmir. But the situation in Budgam is different,” he said.

Explaining his decision to contest independently, Muntazir said that the move was made in response to appeals from his supporters and workers who wanted him to fight on his own symbol. “My supporters and well-wishers advised me to contest as an independent candidate. Apni Party won’t be affected by my decision to quit, but I have my own personal base, vote, and public support,” he stated.
Commenting on the political scenario in Budgam, Muntazir Mohiuddin asserted that the National Conference (NC) has “lost its footing” in the constituency and that the upcoming elections would reflect the desire of the people for genuine local representation.
“The NC has no strong ground left in Budgam. People are looking for a change, and I am confident that they will support me as an independent voice,” he added. [KNT]
