65-Year-Old Dies After Being Run Over By Truck in Khrew

Khrew, Nov 28, KNT: An elderly pedestrian was killed in a road accident late Friday evening at Satpakhren in the Khrew area of south Kashmir when a truck hit him while he was walking along the roadside.

Officials said the truck bearing registration number JK05C-0676, driven by a resident of Zantrag Khrew, struck Ghulam Mohammad Mir, son of Abdul Aziz Mir, aged 65, a resident of Ismail Colony, Satpakhren.

The victim sustained serious injuries in the accident and was immediately shifted to Primary Health Centre Khrew for treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident and initiated legal formalities.

Road accidents have continued to claim lives across Kashmir, particularly during evening hours when visibility drops and traffic flow increases. Locals in the Khrew area said heavy vehicle movement along internal roads often poses danger to pedestrians, especially elderly people.
