Dog menace troubling Bemina’s Gousia Colony; inhabitants appeal for SMC action

Srinagar, Nov 18, KNT: Inhabitants of Gousia Colony in the Bemina area of Srinagar have once again appealed to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to take urgent measures to control the growing stray dog population in their locality. Locals said the repeated presence of aggressive dogs has created fear among the people, particularly children and elderly individuals.

They said the problem has been worsening for months and allege that despite several complaints, no concrete action has been taken to address the issue. According to the inhabitants, school-going children often avoid walking alone due to the threat posed by packs of stray dogs in the lanes of the colony.

The locals demanded that SMC launch an immediate sterilisation and vaccination drive in the area and take steps to ensure safer public spaces. They said the repeated appeals reflect the seriousness of the problem and urged authorities to prioritise the issue before any untoward incident occurs. [KNT]
