Dumping Ban Imposed in North Kashmir’s Pattan, Violators Given Seven Days to Clear Waste

Srinagar, Nov 29, KNT: Authorities in North Kashmir’s Pattan block on Saturday imposed a complete ban on dumping cow dung waste, cattle-related waste and construction debris in public places after widespread complaints of filth, foul smell and sanitation hazards.
Office of the Block Development Officer Pattan, after inspections, confirmed dumping along roadsides, village paths, near drains, irrigation channels, public land and common utility spaces across several habitations in the block.
Officials said the practice has resulted in contamination of water bodies, obstruction of public paths and health hazards, besides attracting stray animals and creating nuisance for locals.
“Dumping in any public location including roads, drains, streams, irrigation channels, near government buildings, schools, Anganwadi Centres, Panchayat Ghars and open spaces has been strictly prohibited.”
