Joint Forces Recover Explosives in Awantipora Village Sweep, Nambardar Held

 

Awantipora, Nov 28, KNT: Joint teams of 180 Battalion CRPF and SOG Awantipora on Friday arrested a village nambardar and recovered explosive material during a sweep search and ADP operation at Naner Gujar Basti under Police Station Awantipora in Pulwama district.

Police said the joint teams launched a cordon and search operation in the area on specific inputs about suspicious movement. During the search, one person identified as Nazir Ahmad Gani, son of Abdul Aziz Gani, a resident of Naner village and presently working as Nambardar Naner, was intercepted and detained for questioning.

Upon search, police said two Chinese grenades, one commercial detonator and other IED related material were recovered from his possession.

The seized items were taken into custody for further examination by bomb disposal experts.

Following the recovery, a case was registered under FIR No. 257/2025 dated November 28, 2025 under Sections 18, 20, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act at Police Station Awantipora.

Police said investigation has been launched to ascertain the source of the explosive material and to identify any possible links or associates connected with the suspect. [KNT]
