LG Manoj Sinha Expresses Anguish, Orders Probe Into Nowgam Police Station Blast

Jammu, Nov 15, KNT: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the accidental blast that occurred during the inspection of seized explosives at Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar. The explosion, which took place late Friday night, killed several officials and left many others injured, prompting widespread concern across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a message posted on X, the Lieutenant Governor said he was “deeply anguished” by the tragic incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who died. He also prayed for the swift recovery of all injured individuals undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Srinagar.
The Lieutenant Governor said the administration stands firmly with the families, friends and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the explosion. He added that all necessary assistance is being provided to the affected families and to those injured in the mishap.

Authorities have already stated that the blast took place during the forensic examination of a large quantity of ammonium nitrate that had been confiscated earlier. The Lieutenant Governor confirmed that he has ordered a thorough probe to determine the exact cause of the accidental explosion and to examine whether all safety procedures were followed at the site.
Senior officials are currently supervising relief measures, while a detailed report from the investigation team is expected in the coming days. [KNT]
