Shantmanu Appointed as Nodal Officer for Student Suicide Prevention in J&K


Srinagar, Nov 13, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed a senior officer to coordinate with the National Task Force constituted by the Supreme Court of India to prevent student suicides in higher educational institutions.
According to Government Order, accessed by the news agency Kashmir News Trust, Shantmanu, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Higher Education Department, has been nominated as the Nodal Officer for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the order issued by the General Administration Department, the Nodal Officer will oversee compliance and coordinate with the Task Force regarding preventive measures, and ensure that all relevant data, information, and assistance are provided to the national body.

The National Task Force was set up by the Supreme Court of India through its judgment dated March 24, 2025, in Criminal Appeal No. 1425/2025, to monitor and enforce steps aimed at addressing mental health challenges and reducing suicides among students. [KNT]
