Baramulla, Nov 29, KNT: Baramulla Police have recovered a Tavera vehicle that was stolen in September and arrested a man from Assam after tracing the vehicle to Leh in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Officials said the vehicle bearing registration number JK04C-1343 was stolen during the night of September 14 and 15 this year. A case under FIR No. 119/2024 under Section 303(2) had been registered at Police Station Kunzer.
After weeks of tracking, police received information that the stolen vehicle was being used in Leh. A special team from Police Station Kunzer was immediately dispatched to the area.

With assistance from local police, the team discreetly tracked the vehicle and arrested the accused identified as Kanchu Sheikh, son of Minhaj-ud-Din, resident of Gopal Para, Sector 19, Assam, who was driving the vehicle.
The police recovered the vehicle on the spot and brought both the accused and the vehicle to Kunzer for further legal proceedings.
The investigation is ongoing to identify whether the accused was acting alone or as part of an organised vehicle theft network. [KNT]
