Gulmarg, Nov 30, KNT: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a Technical Inspection Committee for the Ski Drag Lift at Kongdori in Gulmarg to assess its operational status and technical safety.
The panel has been formed to inspect the drag lift in accordance with the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Aerial Ropeways Act, 2002.
The committee will be headed by the Chief Engineer of the Mechanical and Hospital Engineering Department Kashmir as its chairman. The General Manager of the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation Limited has been nominated as a member, along with the Executive Engineer of the Sub-Transmission Division Gulmarg Tangmarg and the Executive Engineer of the Roads and Buildings Division Gulmarg.

Officials said the committee has been directed to function as per Sections 10 and 11 of the Aerial Ropeways Act, which deal with technical inspection and operational safety of ropeway systems.

The inspection is being viewed as a measure to ensure technical compliance and passenger safety at one of Gulmarg’s heavily used ski infrastructure facilities ahead of peak tourist activity. [KNT]
