Backwall Dismantled, Goods Worth Rs 7 Lakh Stolen; Shopkeeper Points Finger at Owner

Srinagar, Dec 22, KNT: A shopkeeper in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar has alleged that his readymade garments outlet was looted after unidentified persons reportedly dismantled the back wall of the premises. He also claimed that the owner of the building is allegedly involved in the incident.

The shop, operated by Zafar Iqbal, a resident of Firdous Colony Batamaloo, was found ransacked when he arrived in the morning. Iqbal said the burglary came to light after he examined CCTV footage showing suspicious activity near the rear side of the shop. According to him, the back wall had been broken to gain entry.

Iqbal said that goods worth nearly Rs 7 lakh were missing, including readymade garments, laptops, a television, an inverter and other items. He added that the loss has caused him severe financial distress.
